Jacopo and Adrien were travelling through Brazil when they first stumbled upon the fresh taste of Yerba Mate tea, which is a big part of the Carioca culture in Rio. They fell in love at first sip, and from then on the drink became the source of their every conversation. Intent on bringing this unique flavour back to Europe, they spent the next few weeks scrawling plans on the beach, sketching bottle designs into the sand and hunting down the best mate flavours Rio de Janeiro had to offer. Jacopo thought right away about mixing it with the Sicilian Lemons his grandfather used to give him for literally any reason, from starter to dessert, from food to medicine, from day to night time. And he got it right.
What had started as a holiday quickly became the business venture of dreams. Jacopo cancelled his flight home, moved to Santa Teresa and spent the next two months on a quest to find the ideal suppliers for their plans. He eventually got back to London, fast forward nine months and many midnight kitchen formulations, Mathé Organics was born.
